Leicester Young Ecology Adventurers was a two-year programme funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund between 2017-18, and managed by the Somali Community Parents Association. It provided opportunities for young people to learn about the natural environment and to build their skills and confidence. Working with professional instructors, volunteers, academic researchers and brilliant partners on the waterways, the programme has opened up new horizons for young people.
In the second year of our programme we were delighted to be nominated as a finalist for the 2018 Living Waterways Award! We were runners up in the end but it was a great experience and you can see the video about our project below.
